Columbus Short’s Bar Fight Victim Will Not Press Charges

Scandal star Columbus Short may be off the hook for charges against him stemming from his bar brawl on March 15. After turning himself in to the police, following a warrant for his arrest, TMZ reports that the victim, who suffered serious injuries, will not press charges against Columbus, citing family ties. Say what now?

According to the victim’s lawyer, both the vic and Columbus run within the same social circle. Furthermore, the engagement party both men attended the night of the incident, was for a family member of the victim. With that being said, the victim apparently does not want to create any bad blood between family and friends and hopes that he and Columbus can settle the dispute amicably — without the court’s involvement.

While that sounds fine and dandy, that doesn’t mean that Columbus is completely within in the clear. The victim’s lawyer has been in touch with Columbus’s management in an attempt to agree to an out-of-court settlement, that will no doubt take care of the victim’s extensive medical bills as well as provide additional consolation for the facial fracture, neck and back injuries, and massive concussion Columbus caused.

There is a likelihood that that case could still go to trial, however, if the victim receives a settlement, not so much. All and all, we can consider this incident “handled.”
