Community Spoilers: More “Heart,” Less Chevy Chase on Season 4 — But Will There Be a Season 5?
Chevy Chase is now on permanent "vacation" (sorry!) from NBC's Community, but he'll still appear in several episodes when Season 4 premieres on February 7.
During the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said there would be few changes to Community under its new showrunners. "I don't know that I'm the Community expert, but I think you're going to see relatively the same show that you have seen before," he said (via The Hollywood Reporter). "There is a little bit more heart built into it, but we didn't fundamentally change it."
Chevy was vocal about his frustrations with his character, Pierce, but how will his departure affect the show? "Actors come and go on a lot of shows and this is a big ensemble," Greenblatt said. "I don't think that's in any way going to be a big negative about the future of the show. He's in everything but two episodes."
Speaking of the future, the exec said it was "absolutely" possible that Community could continue into Season 5. "I'm always hopeful for a show to continue. We co-own it and I'd love nothing more than to see it continue."
That's a good sign. Are you excited for the future of Community, or wary about the changes?
