Demi Lovato has big plans for 2014, but unfortunately they don’t include being on judge on Season 4 of The X Factor.
Rumors have been swirling that the fan-favorite judge has been planning to leave the show after Season 3, which ends this week. Now, Demi is confirming the departure herself, citing a packed schedule filled with touring and making new music.
“In 2014, I’m going to dedicate it entirely to music, touring, and making a new album,” Demi tells The Wrap.
Adding that touring will be her main focus in the year to come, the singer-actress told Entertainment Tonight she’s excited to devote herself to new projects.
“I’m going on tour,” Demi said. “I’m pretty much going to do a lot of touring this year. I have a lot of stuff planned. I’m really excited to put on a show that I’ve never really done before. It’s going to be awesome. And I plan on working on new music, maybe releasing a new album.”
Demi won’t be wasting anytime, either. While the singer will be taking the month of January to relax, Demi’s first tour date is set for February 9, 2014 in Vancouver, B.C. She will be joined by fellow X Factor alums Cher Lloyd, Little Mix, and Fifth Harmony.
The 21-year-old singer joined the show at the start of Season 2 and while executive producer and fellow judge Simon Cowell says he knew Demi’s exit was imminent, the meanie judge might be starting to get a little worried about the fate of his show. Already down almost 6 million viewers from its first season, The X Factor has struggled to keep up with other talent competitions.
“It was two seasons, and we’ve had great fun, but she has to tour next year,” Simon told Entertainment Tonight. “We’ve had fun working together.”
