American Horror Story owes at least some of its success to Connie Britton, one of the leads of the FX show’s debut season. And now that ABC has cancelled Nashville, her subsequent series, could she return for Season 6?

As far as we know, Season 6 is still in the nascent stages — we don’t have a definitive premiere date, cast, or even premise — so it’s not out of the realm of possibility!

Of course, we’re still mourning the sudden demise of Nashville — ABC had even hired new showrunners for its prospective fifth season! — but that cancellation may have freed the 49-year-old actress up just in time to return to the FX franchise.

“You know, I was not necessarily surprised,” Connie told ET of Nashville’s cancellation. “And, so, I try to really put a silver lining on it and just say, ‘Hey, we got four years out of it, and I really, really value the experience.’”

But she also really, really valued the experience of American Horror Story, telling TV Guide she wanted to appear in American Horror Story: Coven in some capacity, and telling us at Wetpaint she “would do anything” exec producer Ryan Murphy wanted her to do.

Ryan already reunited with her for American Crime Story, bringing her onboard to play Faye Resnick in the limited series (and to teach us what a “Brentwood hello” is.)

So clearly Ryan hasn’t lost Connie’s number — and her IMDb page doesn’t show any upcoming projects on her slate.

Whatever she does next will undoubtedly be exciting, but we’re especially hoping her life gets a bit more “horrible” in the next few months.
