Bachelorette 2014 Contestant Josh Murray: All About His Professional Baseball Past

There’s a good reason behind why Andi Dorfman gets so giggly every time she’s around Season 10 Bachelorette contestant Josh Murray — the dude is an absolute hunk. At 6-foot-3, Josh is the definition of tall, dark, and handsome, an asset he’s used to his advantage during his professional baseball past. But did you know that this bidder for Andi’s heart is actually versed in two different sports?

After Josh mentioned his status as an ex MLB pro baller, we had to do a little digging to find out more about this guy’s athletic history. Come to find out, he’s actually gone pretty far in both baseballand football.

According to USA Today, the Tampa, Florida native was drafted right out of high school to the Milwaukee Brewers in just the second round of the 2002 MLB amateur draft. In fact, he was the 48th pick overall — pretty impressive, if you ask us! Unfortunately, his pro baseball career fizzled and he never progressed to the majors, playing only for their minor league affiliates the Brevard County Manatees for five years. He also did a stint on third base for the Charlotte County Redfish.

During his minor league years, his batting average was said to be around .175 (which is apparently not too great, though admittedly we are novices to this). At least he had some swag on his way up to bat: We hear his walk-on song was “I’m a Hustla” by Cassidy!

Realizing his baseball career didn’t have legs, the gifted athlete enrolled at the University of Georgia and joined as a walk-on safety for the Division I NCAA team in 2009. From there, he appeared in two games against Vanderbilt and ISU, all the while earning the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Hot and smart — what a catch!

However, Josh’s college football career was largely overshadowed by his little brother and fellow Georgia Bulldog, Aaron Murray. At just 23 years old, Aaron is counted as one of the best quarterbacks in UGA history. Just a few weeks back, the younger Murray was the eighth QB picked in the 2014 NFL Draft, snatched up by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round.

Nonetheless, the 29-year-old Bachelorette contestant is likely to win over some fans within Andi’s family, who are reportedly all big UGA fans (she is an Atlanta girl, after all).

“The Dorfman’s are huge UGA fans and he’s good looking. I would be SHOCKED if Josh doesn’t at least make it to hometowns (part of the show where the Bachelorette and her Bachelor go to the Bachelor’s hometown to visit his family),” Reality Steve wrote a while back.

Who needs chewing tobacco and groupies when you’ve got a girl like Andi on your side?
