Corbin Bleu on Taking Second on Dancing With the Stars: “Everything Happens For a Reason”

Corbin Bleu was pure positive energy on Dancing With the Stars Season 17, so it’s no surprise that he’s staying positive after the show.

Corbin and Karina Smirnoff took second to Amber Riley and Derek Hough in the fall 2013 season, which just ended on November 26. In his final Access Hollywood blog, Corbin thanked his family, girlfriend and fans for their support to even make it that far.

“Looking back on the entire adventure I would not have changed a thing,” he wrote. “Even coming in second is a reminder that everything happens for a reason. The goal of joining DWTS was never to win a trophy, but to experience all this ride has to offer. I got the chance to learn a new art and can walk away saying I truly know how to ballroom dance. I have made new friends for life and Karina is at the top of that list.”

Corbin said he and Karina never argued the entire time, despite all the pressures of the show — which has to be pretty rare for DWTS, considering all the rehearsal spat footage we’ve seen over the years. “I look back on every performance we gave and I’m astounded at what we were able to create. [...] At the end of the day, even with all of the physical strain and emotional ups and downs, DWTS has been, and always will be, a giant pillar in my life that I will hold dear. And making it to the final round allowed me the possibility to fulfill every opportunity to perform.”

He grew up in the entertainment industry, and performing is his life. “So to be able to do what I love doing every day on that caliber of a stage has fulfilled me in a huge way.”

The High School Musical star is only 24, with a huge amount of entertaining still ahead of him. Lionsgate just released the trailer for his next movie, a horror thriller called Nurses 3D, which hits theaters on February 7, 2014.

Are you looking forward to watching Corbin’s career progress? Are you sad that he didn’t win or just happy for him that he had such an amazing experience?
