Cory Monteith Death: What Song Did He Have on Repeat in His Last Days?
Less than a week before his death at age 31in Vancouver, B.C., Glee star Cory Monteith (Finn) shared an upbeat, positive song with his more than 1.5 million Twitter followers. The musician tweeted “basically on repeat” alongside a screenshot of a remix of the song “Paris” by band Friendly Fires.
With a strong synth-influence, “Paris” focuses on a couple who wants to run away together to the City of Lights. With lyrics like “This time it’s you and me for evermore” and “Just hold on a little more” the wistful song features otherworldly vocals by Erika Forster of the band Au Revoir Simone.
“It’s a really universal song because it has a longing bit to it, but also this innocence,” Erika told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s really sweet — the message of ‘Let’s run away together.’”
A fan of Glee, Forster said she enjoys the show “from a musical perspective — the fast turnaround, the song selection, the production, and the choreography...I’m always so impressed by that show.”
Perhaps Glee creator Ryan Murphy will consider “Paris” as a potential number to include as a tribute to the late cast member? It’s one suggestion as the Glee family decides how to address Season 5 as filming continues later this month.
