It’s been over two weeks, and Lea Michele (Rachel) is just now breaking her Twitter silence after the shocking death of her boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith (Finn). The 26-year-old Glee star has not tweeted — nor has she given any interviews or made any public appearances — since Cory’s tragic passing. However, on July 29, she sent a heartfelt message to her Twitter followers.
“Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart,” Lea tweeted on Monday morning.
Along with her message, Lea posted a candid picture of herself with Cory, cuddling in the sunshine. Both have huge grins on their faces as they stand overlooking a gorgeous ocean view.
Previously, Lea’s only statement after Cory’s death came by way of her rep. The day after news of Cory’s passing hit the internet, Lea’s rep told People, “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time.”
The Glee star still has yet to step out in public, but she does plan to return to work on GleeSeason 5, and filming for that will begin later this week. Show creator Ryan Murphy has already confirmed that a Cory Monteith tribute episode is in the works for early in the season. We’re stocking up on extra tissue boxes already.
