Cory Monteith Death: Glee Stars Stayed “Up ‘Til 5am” Trying to Process

We still remember where we were when the news broke at 10:30pm on July 13 of Cory Monteith’s (Finn) unexpected death — and we didn’t even know Cory. Given that, we can’t even imagine the shock and anguish that his co-stars must have felt upon hearing about the Glee actor’s passing.

On August 2, Matthew Morrison (Will) — who worked closely with Cory throughout all four of their years together on the show — spoke on Live! With Kelly and Michael about what it was like for the Glee cast when they first heard the news.

“I remember when it happened I was up ’til 5am talking to every single cast member, “Matthew says. “We all just reached out to each other, it was a bonding time, but it was incredibly hard.”

Matt adds that Cory was “absolutely” loved by everyone on the show. Dealing with his death has been extremely difficult for them, but is has brought them even closer than they were before. “I think the best we possible can be [...] I guess the good thing about when something like this happens is you know, we are such a family we really came together.”

Many in the cast and crew of Glee are already back to work on Season 5, and the rest will be starting in the next few days. We’re glad to see how they can all lean on each other for support during this extremely difficult time.
