Cory Monteith’s Death: Glee Writers Finish Script for Memorial Episode
Details are still scarce on what we can expect from Glee’s upcoming Season 5, Episode 3 tribute to Cory Monteith (Finn) following the actor’s shocking death last month. But we now know that Glee’s writers have completed the episode’s script — and that some of the cast have indeed read it.
"I haven't seen it,” Jane Lynch (Sue) tells Life & Style. "I know that it just came out today, and that people are reading it."
We can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for the writers to decide how to properly pay homage to Cory while still wrapping up Finn’s storyline in an appropriate way, and it seems that Jane feels likewise. “I don't envy the job that [the writers] have to do," she adds.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy hasn’t revealed much about the episode, which is set to be the third episode of the upcoming season. But he has confirmed that Finn will not die of a drug overdose as Cory himself did.
"At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose — that was something we had considered," Ryan says. "But we have decided that we're not going to have him pass from that."
"The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, 'This episode is about a celebration of that character's life,'" Ryan continues.
We trust Ryan and the rest of the writers to give Cory and Finn a moving send-off, and we look forward to seeing the episode.
