Cory Monteith Death: Will Lea Michele Skip the 2013 Teen Choice Awards?

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that the sudden death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith (Finn) has affected Lea Michele (Rachel) in a way few tragedies can. Losing the love of your life cannot be easy for anyone. Add in the fame aspect and the fact that the world seems obsessed with how you’re handling the crisis and it’s probably enough to make a girl never want to go out in public again.

Now, Lea has been nominated in the Choice TV Actress: Comedy category at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. She’s attended the Teen Choice Awards plenty of times in years past. It should be a given that she’ll go.

But, in light of Cory’s death, we’re seriously beginning to doubt that Lea will make an appearance. Cory passed away over two weeks ago, and Lea only made her first public statement since then on Monday. It was on Twitter.

She still has yet to give any interviews or interact with anyone on any other type of social media. It seems clear that she’s going to great lengths to avoid being spotted by the paparazzi, and the very first photos of her in public are only now just emerging.

Even if Lea does end up winning an award during the August 11 show, she doesn’t technically have to be there to accept it. She could have a fellow Glee star accept the award on her behalf. Both fellow nominee Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Teen Choice host Darren Criss (Blaine) will be at the show. Or, if she chooses, Lea could tape a video of her acceptance speech to be played during the show.

What do you think? Will Lea attend the show — perhaps skip the red carpet and all those reporter questions, but still be present in the audience — or will she avoid the Teen Choice Awards altogether? Head below and let us know what you think.
