Cory Monteith’s New Movie Gets a Premiere Date

Cory Monteith (Finn) may be gone from our lives, but thankfully his work as an actor remains and one of the Glee star’s last projects just booked a movie premiere. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Cory’s Canadian-directed film All the Wrong Reasons will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this September. But be warned, the movie is a if we won’t already be crying.

In the film, Cory plays James Asher, a big box department store manager whose wife suffers from PTSD. The serious role is a far cry from the lighthearted musical numbers we’ve come to love on Glee, but based on the other parts Cory picked for himself, he was looking to push his boundaries as an actor.

His last onscreen project was an action film called McCanick, in which Cory played a drug-addicted convict who spent seven years behind bars. The role takes on an even more tragic dimension in light of the star’s July 13 death from an alcohol and heroin overdose.

All the Wrong Reasons will release in Canadian theaters later this year. It will also likely continue on the film festival circuit after its premiere at TIFF. Whenever it gets to the States, we know we’ll be first in line to see one of Cory’s all too few times on the big screen.
