Glee’s Cory Monteith Tribute: “The Quarterback” — What Did You Think?
Tonight, Glee paid tribute to the late Cory Monteith (Finn) with an emotional episode, Season 5, Episode 3: “The Quarterback.” We’ve been waiting for this episode for so long. Now it’s finally here.
How do you honor and pay tribute to a man who meant so much to so many people? Can one hour really be enough to express what a beautiful person he was?
Through song, the New Directions remember their friend. We cried during each musical performance, the words of every number all the more heartbreaking since we knew that the actors were also saying goodbye to a man they thought of as a brother.
The cause of Finn’s death was never revealed. It’s not important, Kurt told us at the beginning of the episode. Instead, this episode was all about remembering Finn’s life. Actor Cory Monteith died of a drug overdose, but we’re very glad that Glee chose not to have Finn die the same way.
Cory’s tragic passing taught us the dangers of drugs. Glee didn’t want to try to do it again. Instead, they spent the hour remembering Finn...and saying goodbye.
You’ve seen the episode, now we want to know what you think. Do you like the direction that Glee chose to go with the Cory tribute? Or are there things you would have changed? Would you have taken a different approach at all? Head below and let us know what you think.
I still can't believe Cory's gone.
They did a really great job.
