Cory Monteith Tribute: Lea Michele Singing THIS Adele Hit — Confirmed
UPDATE: A FOX media release confirms which six songs will be part of the episode, and "Make You Feel My Love," by Bob Dylan, but as covered by Adele, is on the list as the final song of the episode. You've been warned. Get out your tissue boxes now.
Since the first announcement that Glee would air a tribute episode honoring the late Cory Monteith and his beloved character Finn, we’ve had a lot of thoughts about how that would or should play out. Foremost among our burning questions was this: What will Lea Michele (Rachel) sing?
Lea won’t appear until the end of the episode. But when she does, it will be to sing a song, and the resulting scene is supposed to be incredibly emotional. It seems almost impossible to pick the right song for her to sing, especially given the fact that Lea’s relationship with Cory extended beyond friend and co-star to real-life girlfriend.
Well, if an emerging internet rumor is true, it sounds like Rachel Berry’s musical homage to her on-again/off-again love, Finn Hudson will be “To Make You Feel My Love,” as performed by Adele (but written and originally performed by Bob Dylan). We hope it’s true, too, because after refreshing our memories on the lyrics, we can’t think of a more perfect tribute. There’s just one problem, though.: How on earth will Lea record such an emotional vocal?
It’s important to have an emotional connection to your storyline, but in Lea’s case it seems like it may be a little too strong, given the tragic circumstances of Cory’s death and her closeness to him. We can’t even begin to imagine how she’ll put down the track for this one without sobbing, because we can’t even get through reading the lyrics before totally losing it.
If you want to have a look yourself, they’re below. However — we’re completely serious about this — you’re gonna want to grab a box of tissues.
When the rain is blowing in your face, And the whole world is on your case, I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love.
When the evening shadows and the stars appear, And there is no one there to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love.
I know you haven't made your mind up yet, But I would never do you wrong. I've known it from the moment that we met, No doubt in my mind where you belong.
I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue, I'd go crawling down the avenue. No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love.
The storms are raging on the rolling sea And on the highway of regret. The winds of change are blowing wild and free, You ain't seen nothing like me yet.
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true. Nothing that I wouldn't do. Go to the ends of the Earth for you, To make you feel my love To make you feel my love
What do you think: Excellent choice, or would you have gone another way?
