We’ve known that Glee will be paying tribute to the late Cory Monteith (Finn) with a Season 5, Episode 3 memorial. Now, we’ve learned that this weekend’s Emmy Awards ceremony will pay special tribute to Cory as well.

The Emmys — which air this Sunday, September 22, on CBS — will air the typical “In Memoriam” montage of TV figures who passed away this year. But USA Today reports that it will also feature separate tributes to five important television personalities whom we lost, one of whom is Cory.

The other four who will receive tributes are James Gandolfini, All in the Family star Jean Stapleton, comedian Jonathan Winters, and producer Gary David Goldberg. "If you think about each of these people, they had a significant impact on television in general and on a particular generation," an Emmy producer explains. "And we've asked people whose lives they affected to come and talk about them."

For Cory’s segment, Glee star Jane Lynch (Sue) will speak about him and share memories. Given the lovely things Jane has already said after Cory’s sudden passing on July 13, we can only imagine how heartfelt this will be. While we might have appreciated hearing what Lea Michele (Rachel) would say, we can understand that it might be too tough for her to give a(nother) public speech like this.

The Emmys will be a big night for Jane, who is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for the fourth straight year. So regardless of how Glee does in its four Emmy nominations, this is definitely going to be an emotional night for the show.
