Tragic update: Cory died in a Vancouver, Canada, hotel room on July 13, 2013, barely over a month after he left rehab. By all appearances, he seemed to be on the mend. He and girlfriend Lea Michele (Rachel) had been seen out together in public numerous times, and Cory was expected to go back to work filming Glee Season 5 later that week. The coroner's report reveals that Cory died of "a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol,” and Vancouver Police have ruled it an accidental overdose.

Glee star Cory Monteith (Finn) checked into rehab for substance abuse issues in late March 2013, sending shock waves through the Glee fan community. The 30-year-old star had been to rehab once before, back when he was only 19. In a 2011 interview with Parade Magazine, Cory revealed that he once used to use “anything and everything, as much as possible.”
Though his Glee co-stars seemed to have no idea about his problem, they all quickly took to Twitter to voice their love and support. Likewise, Cory’s co-star girlfriend Lea Michele (Rachel) has vowed to “stand by him through this,” noting how “grateful and proud” she is of her boyfriend’s decision.
DID HE AND GIRLFRIEND LEA MICHELE BREAKUP? No. They stayed together.
WHAT WAS HE IN REHAB FOR? Cory and his reps released no official statements, other than the generic “substance abuse.” Us Weekly reported that cocaine and alcohol were the major two contributors, but this report should be taken with a grain of salt.
