Cory Monteith’s Father Left Out After Son’s Death: I’m “Torn Apart”

As was previously reported, Cory Monteith’s (Finn) formerly-estranged father, Joe Monteith, was not invited to the private viewing that would have allowed him to see his son one last time. Cory’s mother — Joe’s ex-wife, Ann McGregor — did not reach out after their son passed away, and Joe does not seem too happy about it.

Cory’s dad already gave one interview talking about his son’s death, and now he’s speaking to Celebuzz about how hurt he feels to be excluded from everything.

“There’s nothing I can do, I’m torn apart,” he says. “It’s all been up to Lea [Michele] and Cory’s mother [...] I have no closure and I won’t be getting closure by the sounds of it.”

Lea, Ann, and Cory’s brother, Shaun, had a private viewing of Cory’s body in Vancouver on July 16, but Joe was not invited. Ann had Cory cremated soon after. Lea is now back home in Los Angeles, where she attended a private memorial on July 25. Over 150 people attended the Glee cast and crew event. Production for Season 5 of the Fox show is expected to start in early August, and Lea will be returning to the show.

Cory’s father, however, is still back on the east coast of Canada, waiting to get an update. “I still haven’t heard from Cory’s mother,” says Joe, who lives on the other side of the country his ex-wife. “I was ready to fly out to any place with one word.”
