You Could Get Killed Off in a Song of Ice and Fire — For Charity!

All men must die, and now you too could be killed off in the most murderous epic of our time, A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series Game of Thrones is based on. But don’t worry, it’s for a good cause!

In a truly awesome way to crowdfund, ASOIAF author George R. R. Martin is offering fans the opportunity to be killed off in the next book in the series, The Winds of Winter, if they make a donation of $20,000 towards both the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and the Food Depot of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Martin’s hometown. The person who does will get to decide if their character is a Lord, Lady, Septum, Maester, or Knight, while George gets to decide their fate.

Don’t have $20,000 laying around? You can still donate and be entered to win a helicopter ride and tour of the wolf sanctuary with Martin with a donation as small as $10, while $50 gets you a t-shirt, $600 earns you a signed copy of the Game of Thrones Cookbooks, and $7,500 gets you one of George’s awesome hats!

You can enter the contest yourself here.

Catch the next episode of Game of Thrones Season 4 on June 8, 2014 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
