American Horror Story: Coven — Episode 13 Promo, “The Seven Wonders”

The teaser for American Horror Story: Coven's finale doesn't reveal too much, but what we do see piques our curiosity — and dread — for the epic climax of AHS's third season, airing Wednesday, January 29.

As you can see in the video embedded below, the witches are gearing up to take the Seven Wonders — i.e. the rigorous test of seven powers which roots out the coven's next Supreme.

In case you missed the Episode 12's silent-film intro Wonders, they are:

  • Telekinesis — transporting objects with your mind

  • Pyrokinesis — igniting objects with your mind

  • Concilium — controlling minds… with your mind

  • Transmutation — i.e. teleportation

  • Divination — seeing times and places you haven't experienced

  • Vitalum vitalis — exchanging life force with another

  • Descensum — travelling to the realm of the dead and back

All of the witches have displayed some of these powers, but as far as we can recall, no one witch has demonstrated every one.

In the preview, only four witches test: Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), Madison (Emma Roberts), Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe), and Misty (Lily Rabe). Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) has never shown much interest in filling her mother's shoes, Myrtle (Frances Conroy) must be over it, and Nan (Jamie Brewer) is dead.

We also see Zoe toasting her sistren at the dinner table: "I feel like I'm part of a family: my teachers, my soulmates, my witches."

In one of the most interesting sequences, Kyle (Evan Peters) kisses Madison and then walks over to Zoe, who French-kisses him while shooting a nasty look to Madison. Mad's fist clenches, but it's actually Kyle who attacks Zoe. Wait… what?

Does he kill her? All we know is that we see Cordelia sobbing in the last shot of the preview, which doesn't bode well.

American Horror Story: Coven Episode 13 — "The Seven Wonders" — airs Wednesday, January 29, at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
