Pretty Little Liars Crazy Fan Theory: Ezra Has an (Evil) Twin
Pretty Little Liars is a twisty show that not only encourages intense, creative thinking from its fans, but practically requires it. If you're not digging into every clue and approaching each mystery from every possible angle, you miss out on half the fun. As the revelation that Ezra could actually be "A" proves, there's no theory that's too wild to be true.
With so much speculation bouncing around the internet each week, there are always a thousand interesting theories to read about. Some are fairly straightforward and seem likely, while others are way more outside the box — and even cooler for it. These are the ideas that might seem a little too out there to be right, but could be the real answer to everything.
Each week, Wetpaint will be highlighting a different fascinating fan theory that sheds new light on the show. This week let's talk about one of the most interesting alternate theories for why Ezra was at "A"'s lair: it was actually Ezra's evil twin!
Where the idea comes from. No, this isn't just a totally random idea created by desperate Ezria fans. In the Pretty Little Liars book series, Ali herself has a twin, which ends up being the key to both her murder and to the second "A" who pops up after the original "A" (also Mona) is killed. The writers and actors have all said that they aren't going to make Ali have a twin on the show, and many fans wonder if a different character will have a twin instead. Now that Ezra is looking surprisingly evil, some fans are thinking he's the one who has an alter-ego running around town.
It would explain the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde comment. Executive producer Oliver Goldstick teased that there's a bit of Jekyll-and-Hyde going on with Ezra. Of course, we're guessing Ezra doesn't really swallow a potion that turns him evil as in the classic novel, so what could that mean? Some fans are thinking split personality, while others are speculating a sociopathic twin is the answer. It would certainly be another shocking twist...
What do you think of this theory — completely crazy, or potentially true? Do you want to see the show go in this direction, or do you think it would be totally hokey? Sound off in the comments below!
