Right now, Ezra appears to be a baddie on Pretty Little Liars, but just because he's acting sketchy doesn't mean he's the one in charge of it all. Could he actually be working for none other than Ali herself?
We all know Pretty Little Liars is a twisty, turny show where anything can happen. Each week, we like to dive into the world of fan theories to dig up an out there idea that still, somehow, makes sense. After all, in Rosewood, you never know when the most extreme option will turn out to be the truth.
This week we want to address a theory that we've seen floating around in various forms — that Ezra is actually following Ali's orders, and not necessarily by choice.
Here are some of the reasons this theory is interesting to us.
Ezra seemed awfully sloppy to be "A". As we pointed out, and fans have also elaborated on, Ezra's actions in the most recent episode don't seem to fit with the super-competent "A". Doing things like listening to the Ali recording in an unlocked classroom and sneaking into Hanna's room when her mom could have easily noticed he was missing doesn't seem to fit with the super-stealthy "A"'s M.O... And if he's not uber "A", someone else has to be...
Ali was collecting secrets to blackmail people. One of the entries in Ali's diary implies she was collecting secrets to blackmail people which is pretty darned "A" like. Another talked about her interest in a hot teacher who is probably Ezra, and mentions wanting a teacher on "[her] side." Is it possible she recruited Ezra, perhaps even through blackmail?
"You know why I picked you, right?" Many fans have puzzled over these words, which Ali said to Aria when she visited her while she was sick (we mean, being drugged by Meredith). We like this fan's theory that Ali meant that she had chosen Aria as the one for Ezra to target so that he could get close to the girls and keep tabs on them for Ali.
What do you think of this theory — is it possible, or totally crazy? Sound off in the comments below.
