Pretty Little Liars Crazy Fan Theory: Aria Knows Ali Is Alive

Pretty Little Liars is a show built on twists and turns — having your mind completely blown at least twice a season is just par for the course. The Season 4 summer finale upped the ante on how crazy the twists can be by making it look like Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding), of all people, is "A". If that's possible, is any theory too crazy for Rosewood? We think not.

The Pretty Little Liars fan base is full of creative thinkers coming up with complex, fascinating theories, and every week we like to highlight one that seems particularly interesting. This week, we found an idea from Tumblr user truealphabanshee that we haven't seen before in this exact way, but totally love: Aria knows Ali is alive.

Whaaa? Sure, it's an out there theory, but maybe it makes more sense than you think at first glance.

Fans have often found Aria a bit sketchy; that's why Aria being part of the "A" team is such a popular theory. The hardest thing to believe about that idea is that Aria would torture her friends. But what if, instead of being "A", Aria is just harboring the biggest secret of them all? That would help explain a lot of her suspicious behavior and the odd iconography around her, without turning her into a psycho evil biotch.

It would, for instance, explain why Aria has been called the "best liar," a fact that many fans think has hidden meaning. It would also explain why Aria is the one making the "shh" in the opening credits. It could even explain why Aria hasn't been as targeted by "A" as some of the other Liars — perhaps "A" was afraid that she'd spill the truth, which might be something "A" doesn't want to have happen.

What do you think of this theory — completely crazy, or potentially true? Do you like the idea, or is just another layer of WTF for no reason? Sound off in the comments below!
