Game of Thrones continues to be a critical darling, garnering four nominations for the upcoming Critic’s Choice Awards (nominations were announced on Wednesday). The show is up for best drama against the likes of Breaking Bad, Homeland, Downton Abbey, The Americans, and The Good Wife. Some stiff competition, to be sure, but we think GoT has a shot.
Three actors from the show also picked up nominations in the drama category. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who’s undergone a major character transformation this season in his role as Jaime Lannister, is up for Best Supporting Actor. Emilia Clarke, who continues to dazzle as Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, is in contention for Best Supporting Actress. Lastly, Diana Rigg has been nominated for Best Guest Performer for her turn as the sharp-tongued Queen of Thorns, Olenna Tyrell.
GoT helped contribute towards HBO’s 21 nominations; the most of any network. The Critic’s Choice Awards are set to take place on June 10 and will be streamed online at UStream. Best of luck to all GoT nominees!
Catch the next episode of Game of Thrones on Sunday, June 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
