Grey’s Anatomy Spoiler: Season 10, Episode 17 Is a Cristina/Owen “What If” Episode

Crowen fans, we hope you're seated. Your 'ship hasn't sunk yet! In fact, Season 10, Episode 17 sounds like it will be right up your alley, according to a tweet from David Greenspan, a director and editor on the show.

David spilled the beans after a Twitter fan asked, "Is the time jump in [Episode 17] permanent or a flash-forward? [Is it] related to Cristina's [Sandra Oh] exit in any way?"

If there is indeed a time jump, that would explain why a much-older actress was just cast as Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) adopted daughter, Zola.

"It's more like a what-if scenario," David replied. "It has to do with the Crowen storyline. Can't say if it's directly connected to her exit."

Then, even more intriguingly, David immediately deleted his answer from the annals of Twitter, though SpoilerTV has a screenshot of the conversation.

The show has gone alternate-reality already — with the Season 8 episode "If/Then." But that installment portrayed an altered present resulting from past choices, and this one sounds like it will show an altered future resulting from present choices.

If so, perhaps Cristina and Owen (Kevin McKidd) will entertain the idea of getting back together? We shippers can only dream!
