Cynthia Bailey Pulls Off the Pageant… Barely: Recap of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 5, Episode 15

It's time for our weekly dose of insanity — here's what went down with Cynthia Bailey and Kenya Moore on Season 5, Episode 15 The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Let's do this!

After cutting Porsha Stewart out of the pageant last week, Cynthia finds herself suddenly stuck with a whole lot of work. No kidding. So what does she do? She asks Kenya Moore to be a judge. The last time Kenya judged a Bailey Agency event, she destroyed teenagers' self-esteem and called security on Cynthia's employees, but surely she's a far better choice than Porsha. Really, Cynthia? Hopefully, she won't storm out during the talent portion and call the whole pageant "wack."

Later, when she reveals her decision to NeNe Leakes, NeNe's like, girl, you're out of your mind. We never thought the day would come that NeNe would be the voice of reason on this show.

As it turns out, Kenya is the least of Cynthia's problems. Her first mistake? Cynthia decides that she is going to host the pageant despite her disastrous attempt at playing emcee during last season's fashion show. At least she acquires some serious eye candy — actor Boris Kodjoe — to co-host the evening with her, though she's highly disappointed that he's not wearing a suit. Cynthia, meanwhile, looks like she's about to host the Oscars.

But not even Channing Tatum could save this trainwreck. She kicks off the extravaganza by speaking into the wrong microphone. Then, it's like the fashion show all over again, as she calls off wrong name after wrong name, while kid models look around in confusion. The best part is when she announces an intermission and leaves a group of teenagers all dressed up with nowhere to go backstage. Boris quickly runs out joking that it was just a test. He's lucky he's cute.

Eventually, the evening does turn around, mostly because the contestants bring the show together. Maybe it wasn't perfect — OK, it was a borderline disaster — but we gotta admit that was the biggest sparkly crown we've ever seen placed on a pretty hair-sprayed head.

Do you think the pageant was a success?
