Cynthia Bailey’s husband, Peter Thomas, wants folks to know that his restaurant’s money problems have nothing to do with his alleged refusal to pay a boatload of rent on the place. Sure, whatever you say, Pete.

The restaurateur and Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member claims that, despite his landlord filing a recent lawsuit against him for close to $100,000 in unpaid rent, he’s not the one with a cashflow problem, calling the situation nothing more than a “misunderstanding.”

While Peter’s Atlanta restaurant, Bar ONE, has gone into foreclosure, he says it’s his landlord’s delinquent mortgage payments that are causing his sticky financial situation.

These two guys, who are my landlords … didn’t pay the rent that I was paying them every month for over a year,” Peter tells StraightFromTheA.com (via RadarOnline.com). “They was upside down on the property but I wasn’t aware of that until I got the letter from the bank saying not to give them money any more.”

Peter claims that he’s planning on buying the restaurant with a new set of business partners once it goes back on the market, but it sounds like his propensity for what seem like tall tales won’t earn him any favor with a mortgage company , especially since this isn’t the first of his money troubles — he’s had falling outs and lawsuits with three separate parties in the past over his reported unwillingness to pay up.
