“I can’t think of a more godly man to conduct the ceremony,” Sean tells the magazine. “My dad has had such a powerful and positive influence on my life, I thought it was only fitting to have him officiate our wedding.”
We couldn’t be happier that Sean’s darling dad is getting more screentime. We first fell in love with Jay in Colleyville, Texas, when Sean took Emily Maynard there on his hometown date in Season 8 of The Bachelorette. He showed off his humorous side by helping Sean prank the little Charlotte gal into thinking Seanie still lived at home.
Then, in Thailand on Sean’s Bachelor 2013 finale, Jay touched our hearts when he told Cat that if she was the one his son picked, he would “love her like a daughter.” Not only that, he said he would be “best friends” with her the way he is with his daughter Shay’s husband, Andrew.
So obviously, Jay has been our choice from the start, considering we basically want him to have his own spin-off, where a TV camera follows him around, showing him saying inspirational things. And while it’s a bummer that Chris Harrison won’t be doing the honors, the way he did for Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum in December 2012, we were prepared for that.
“I doubt Chris will be officiating only because, you know, my dad is an ordained minister, my grandfather is a minister, there is a lot of ministers in line that might supercede Chris Harrison,” Sean explained to ABC back in March 2013, a couple days after his engagement to Cat aired.
