Photo of Dads Welcoming Their New Baby Will Give You So Many Feels
There’s no way to describe the feeling of meeting your newborn for the first time. But one lucky photographer was able to capture this blissful moment on film for two fathers who recently welcomed their newborn son.
According to Buzzfeed, Canadian photographer Lindsay Foster, got to photograph the two fathers, BJ Barone and Frankie Nelson, at the hospital while they were waiting to meet their baby as their surrogate labored away.
Lindsay says, “I had the opportunity to photograph this amazing birth on June 27th for a surrogate and two expecting and anxious daddies. Hours were spent with them in the hospital room while the surrogate mom was laboring and I got to know them quite well.”
Adding, “They are two compassionate people who felt all the emotions that every new parent feels. They asked all appropriate questions of the birthing mom and the midwife and educated themselves as best as they could for their son’s arrival. I am so proud of these two dads.”
Baby Milo was born via a non-related surrogate using eggs that were not her own. Lindsay says that the married mother of two was “very happy to have given this gift” to BJ and Frankie.
Lindsay was able to capture the moment when BJ and Frankie first held Milo, while they were shirtless to provide skin-to-skin contact between parent and child. Once the photo was shared on her Facebook page, it quickly went viral.
The new parents were overwhelmed with the (mostly) positive reception they received. Frankie told Lindsay via Facebook, “BJ and I want to thank you for this amazing gift you have [given] us!! We can not thank you enough for capturing the most amazing moment in our life!”
As for those hateful comments, the dad added, “Milo is surrounded by unconditional love and he will grow up knowing many different types of families and accept everyone, (intolerant people included). Milo was born during World Pride. This picture represents everything Pride is about. Love has no colour nor gender nor sexual preference. Love is unconditional. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts! xxoo.”
