Dallas’ Larry Hagman Dies at 81

Larry Hagman, the victim of the famous “who shot J.R.” finale of Dallas, lost his battle to throat cancer on Friday at the age of 81 according to People.

Larry was best known for his role on both the original, and more recently the TNT reboot, of the hit show Dallas, as well as his time spent on the I Dream of Jeannie. Larry was surrounded by those he loved when he passed.

Larry is survived by his wife, Maj Hagman, his two children and grandchildren. The family released a statement to the Dallas Morning News that said, When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”

But Larry was surrounded by more than just family. Larry’s Dallas co-stars Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy were both by his side at Medical City Dallas Hospital. And another of his co-stars, I Dream of Jeannie’s Barbara Eden, posted her condolences on her Facebook page:

“My deepest condolences go out to his wife Maj, his son and daughter and his grandchildren, as well as his friends in this time of his passing. I can honestly say that we've lost not just a great actor, not just a television icon, but an element of pure Americana. Goodbye Larry, there was no one like you before and there will never be anyone like you again.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
