Homeland’s Damian Lewis Wants to Play James Bond?

Daniel Craig has three James Bond movies under his really sexy belt, and at least two more coming out in the next couple years. Though we can barely imagine a tuxedo without Daniel in it, we’d be okay with Damian Lewis eventually stepping in to 007’s shoes. If anyone else is going to hold our attention while sipping and smoldering, it’s him.

In a recent interview for Esquire, the Emmy-winning Homeland star (who’s up for the award again this year) expressed a hedging desire to fill the iconic role someday.

"Yes, I think it would be wonderful. Daniel is doing an amazing job and he'll continue to do it for a bit. But if it ever comes to that, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it,” the Brit says of the current Bond portrayer.

Daniel Craig first started playing the spy with the best gadgets at the age of 37 years old, in 2006’s Casino Royale. As it stands, he’s scheduled through at least 2015, for the 25th installment of the series.

Currently 42 years old, Damian would be one of the oldest actors to step into the role — Roger Moore began portraying the role in 1973 at the age of 45 — were he offered the job.

Do you think Damian Lewis would be a good James Bond? Weigh in below and tell us why.
