Should Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus Get 2014 Emmy Award Nominations?

The 2014 Emmy Award nominations will be announced July 10. AMC is trying to help The Walking Dead finally get some attention for the actors through a great new campaign.

We’d be thrilled for anyone in the cast to get a nod, although Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier) has been the focus of a lot of attention for her incredible work this season, especially in “The Grove.” Fans have launched a McEmmy campaign to support her, but that takes nothing away from the other amazing cast members.

The Hollywood Reporter’s chief TV critic Tim Goodman just handicapped his own picks in 14 categories for this year's Emmys. He chose two TWD stars to be nominated: Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) and Danai Gurira (Michonne).

Here are the categories in question, along with his comments about each star:

Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad (AMC): Slam dunk.

Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones (HBO): Slam dunk.

Norman Reedus, The Walking Dead (AMC): This must happen.

Dean Norris, Breaking Bad (AMC): Very deserving.

Mandy Patinkin, Homeland (Showtime): Likely winner.

Walton Goggins, Justified (FX): Consistently great.

Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad (AMC) Her year?

Annet Mahendru, The Americans (FX) Possible winner.

Danai Gurira, The Walking Dead (AMC) So deserving.

Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey (PBS) Favorite for a reason.

Kelly Macdonald, Boardwalk Empire (HBO) Most underappreciated.

Jennifer Carpenter, Dexter (Showtime) Overcame material.

So Norman getting nominated “must happen” and Danai is “so deserving.” Do you agree? The academy can’t go wrong if the finally nominate anyone from TWD, even if it’s likely that Breaking Bad will sweep the actual awards for its final year.

Which TWD stars would you nominate this season, and in what categories? Andrew Lincoln for Best Drama Actor? Chad Coleman, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Brighton Sharbino, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney, Danai, Melissa or Norman for supporting roles?

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October on AMC.
