Abby Lee Miller’s comfort zone may be in taunting pre-teen dancers for their lazy turnouts and low-flying leaps, but the Dance Moms star is now looking to branch out to adults! Starting this summer, the Abby Lee Dance Company director will have a new Lifetime series, Abby’s Studio Rescue, which will see her utilizing her critiquing skills (to put it kindly) on various dance studio owners.
If this sounds familiar, it’s probably because it’s basically a dance-inspired take on shows like Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. In both scenarios, a beauty and food professional, respectively, arrive at a struggling business and dish out tips on how to save it.
The same applies for Abby Lee’s new series, which will follow her to different small-town studios across the country and watch her overhaul the schools. Since she’s been running her own successful studio since 1980, she does have legs to stand on here. The press release says she will give the studio heads the tools to take their dancers and the business to the next level.
So what does that include? Among other things, it’s about staffing, choreography, renovating the space, fixing the schedules, and even handling those pesky stage moms (of course!). Sounds like she’s found her dream job — but she better be back in Dance Moms mode when Season 4’s second half returns!
Abby’s Studio Rescue premieres Tuesday, June 17, at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
