Dancing With the Stars 2013 Live Recap: Season 16, Week 1 — “You Sparkle!”

The time has officially come to kick off another season in the Dancing With the Stars ballroom. Are you ready to get Giggy with it?

Tune in with us for our Dancing With the Stars Season 16 premiere live recap, starting at 8 p.m. ET sharp!

Dancing With the Stars 2013 hopefuls include Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Star Lisa Vanderpump, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, American Idol cutie Kellie Pickler, Bachelor stud Sean Lowe, comedian Andy Dick, boxer Victor Ortiz, former figure skater Dorothy Hamill, Disney starlet Zendaya, soap star Ingo Rademacher, country superstar Wynonna Judd, funny man D.L. Hughley and Super Bowl winner Jacoby Jones. But who will walk away with the Mirror Ball? Only time will tell!

Tonight’s premiere will showcase three dance styles: the foxtrot, the cha-cha-cha and contemporary. Who do you think will be the early favorite? Our money is one Kellie and her pro partner Derek Hough. Have you seen her lines?!

Okay DWTS fans, now that you know what to expect, join in on the fun below as Wetpaint Entertainment gets ready to live recap. And since we know you have a lot of feelings (we do too!), tell us what you think of the episode in the comments!

We’ll try our best to answer all of your questions, comments and concerns. Keep refreshing for more!

7:55 — OK, so the show hasn't started yet, but if you haven't seen Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd singing Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" backstage, then you haven't really started living.

8:00 — Lisa Vanderpump wins Best Dressed for Week 1. We're loving the pink! But where's Giggy?!

8:04 — "We have the same haircut!" Those were Derek Hough's first words to Kellie Pickler. We kind of agree. Kellie could be a Hough!

8:05 — Kellie's cha-cha-cha is fabulous (unlike that cover of Jessie J's "Domino"). It's obvious Kellie is Season 16's ringer. Who knew she was so bendy?

8:09 — Triple sevens for Kellie Pickler! Not bad for Week 1. She even made Len rhyme! Oh Len, how we've missed you and your "SEEVVVEEEENS."

8:15 — Victor Ortiz, I don't know who you are, but your backstory made me feel all verklempt.

8:15 — Lindsay Arnold is adorable. Victor looks a little stiff, but it's okay because a karaoke version of Maroon 5's "Daylight" is playing and I'm drinking the DWTS koolaid.

8:17 — "What a wonderful combination of boyish charm and Latino passion." Yep, Bruno sums it up perfectly.

8:18 — "You sparkle!" Carrie Ann, however, has run out of things to say.

8:19 — Victor and Lindsay's foxtrot was pretty, but it wasn't very exciting. I'm with Len: Bring on the jive!

8:23 — OK. I kind of have a crush on Victor. That smile, that hair, those eyes!

8:23 — Victor and Lindsay score straight sixes from the judges. I think there should have been a five in there, but what do I know?

8:25 — Time for #TeamAussie!

8:26 — Kym and Ingo are great, but starting off with contemporary in Week 1 is rough.

8:27 — When I look at you, Ingo Rademacher, a Coldplay song plays in my heart.

8:28 — That contemporary dance was actually quite lovely! Although, my judgement might have been blinded by Coldplay.

8:29 — "Your feet were in the air more than they were on the ground!" Len is not a fan of contemporary.

8:30 — "It was a bit like watching Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook." That's a compliment, right?

8:35 — Ingo and Kym score a 20/30, which is pretty good for Week 1.

8:36 — GIGGY FOR ALL OF THE AWARDS. Seriously, that dog is wearing a bow tie!

8:36 — "Knees together just like my mother always taught me." Oh Lisa, we love you already.

8:37 — It only took one minute for Gleb to get shirtless. Sooooo is Gleb the new Maks?

8:38 — Speaking of Maks, overheard in my apartment: "I just want Maks and Kirstie Alley to get married! I want a Dancing With the Stars wedding."

8:39 — "It was acceptable, but it wasn't exceptional." Len is keeping it real.

8:40 — Has Gleb spoken a single word yet? Does he really need to speak? It looks like Lisa has enough personality for the both of them.

8:44 — I'm pretty sure Giggy has had more camera time than Andy Dick tonight. I'm OK with that.

8:45 — "I'm just going to take off my shirt and bring the sexyback." Alrighty then, Gleb. What are you waiting for?

8:46 — Lisa and Gleb score straight sixes from the judges. Will anyone get below a six or higher than a seven tongiht?

8:46 — Welcome to the "Making of Boogie Fantastic." Yeah, I'm not sure what that means either.

8:47 — D.L. is so bad that he's actually enjoyable... I think? I'm pretty sure Cheryl is the only one doing the cha-cha-cha here.

8:50 — Should have stayed in the gang, Boogie Fantastic.

8:51 — He may not be a dancer, but if he can make Tom Bergeron laugh like that, then he must be funny.

8:55 — And it's a dismal 12/30 for Cheryl and Boogie Fantastic.

8:56 — Val and Zedaya are cute, but then again, I feel awkward for saying that because she's only 16.

8:59 — OMG. Did she just spin off the judges table into Val's arms? Did that really just happen? These two are my new favorites. She looked lovely, the contemporary choreography was electric, and for the first time this evening, it was exciting. Welcome to Season 16!

9:01 — Not only did they recieve the first standing ovation of the competition, but they also scored the highest score of the night with 24/30.

9:02 — Sean Lowe just wants to stay out of the tabloids, ya know?

9:02 — You can tell Sean Lowe's a born again virgin by his dancing skills (this is not a compliment).

9:04 — Well, at least he has good posture!

9:05 — Sean Lowe's "come hither" look will haunt our dreams.

9:10 — Sean Lowe is such a bro. (I've never seen The Bachelor.)

9:10 — Sean and Peta score a 19/30 in Week 1. Maybe they should have performed their cover of "I Knew You Were Trouble" instead?

9:11 — Loosen up, Aly! You're an Olympic athlete!

9:13 — This could be the One Direction song talking, but Mark and Aly are adorable. She's a little firecracker!

9:15 — Can I please see Aly Raisman's parents' reaction to that dance? (And that dress?!)

9:21 — I've waited four months to have Tristan MacManus back on my TV screen. America, let's not mess it up this time.

9:24 — Sure, I might be slightly biased, but Dorothy and Tristan's contemporary dance was gorgeous. Elton John + fake snowfall + Irishman in suspenders = beautiful.

9:25 — High praise from the judges! (Also, can we please talk about Tristan's scruff?)

9:29 — That's a "SEEVVVEEEEN" from Len! Tristan and Dorothy score a 21/30.

9:31 — "I may not be a pro, but I'm going to shake my money-maker." That's the spirit, Wynonna!

9:33 — I'm not sure what this song choice is all about, but I'm feeling it — and so is Wynonna. Hey, after the rise of Kirstie Alley, anything can happen.

9:34 — All of the Judds are in the audience! Love you, Ash.

8:41 — It's 18/30 for Wynonna and Tony! Pretty good start for Wynonna. I have to admit: I was pleasantly surprised with her cha-cha-cha.

8:41 — "It's been a bad couple of decades," says Andy Dick.

8:42 — Andy Dick is making me feel lots of feelings. I think I'm sympathizing with him?

8:43 — He's so cute. He just wants to be good, OK? I think I'm loving this foxtrot. Am I the only one finding Andy Dick to be absolutely charming? (I swear I'm not under the influence of any substances.) Major props to Sharna for turning out such great choreography.

9:46 — "It was like watching the Ugly Duckling come to life!" Carrie Ann is just keeping it real, y'all!

9:48 — And it's a 17/30 for Andy and Sharna. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm rooting for you Andy!

9:52 — Last performance of the night: Jacoby Jacobs and Karina Smirnoff! Wait, he picked everything up in one week? What the what?!

9:55 — Jacoby's purple and gold outfit wins the night. (Wins everything, really.) Karina is super intense, per usual, and he's super energetic.

9:57 — Len calls it "all icing and no cake." We have to agree. Jacoby may be fun to watch, but this whole performance basically felt like a sugar rush.

10:00 — Looks like Zendaya and Val are the frontrunners this season! What did you think?

What did you think of Week 1? Who's your favorite? Catch Dancing With the Stars on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
