Dancing With the Stars 2013: Season 16 Final to Be 4 Couples, Not 3?

In some ways, it wouldn’t make a difference if Dancing With the Stars Season 16 added an extra couple to the finals. It’s still probably going to be Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough, Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy, Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff, and Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas. There’s potential for a dark horse to move in, but it’s not likely. They have been dominating the season.

Still, we’re used to a final three, and ending the season with four couples would mean skipping an elimination along the way. Usually they have at least one double elimination, and this would probably prevent that.

Where is this idea coming from? Mark’s mom, dance guru Shirley Ballas, told PopTV that they’ve made it a four-person finale this year. She also thinks it will come down to Jacoby/Karina, Mark/Aly, Derek/Kellie and Val/Zendaya, although she’s not sure who will win. We imagine she’s pulling for her son or Derek, since she’s been a mom figure for both, but it’s anyone’s game.

What do you think about the idea of a four-couple final? Sound off below.
