Dancing With the Stars 2013: Will Mark Ballas Dance Tonight, April 29, 2013?

Throughout Dancing With the Stars’ 16 seasons, the most notable injuries have been of celebrity contestants, but once in awhile, a pro dancer has to excuse him or herself from the competition. Sadly, from the looks of it, that may be Mark Ballas’s fate tonight.

Over the weekend, Mark revealed that he sustained a serious back injury while trying a lift, and doctors say he compressed two discs in his lower back. He could “hardly move for two days,” and as of Saturday night, he was still sidelined.

However, troupe dancer Henry Byalikov stepped in to help Mark’s celeb partner Aly Raisman with the routines for Latin Night — including their solo Salsa — and is prepared to step in for Mark if he isn’t cleared to perform.

We know that Mark is a trouper, and since his MRI results revealed that there is no damage to his spin or nerves, he may be able to work the ballroom floor. But since he has muscle spasms still, one wrong move could significantly lower their scores, and in turn ruin their chances at the Mirror Ball.

Last night (April 28), he tweeted, “Thx for the get better tweets.. I appreciate y'all, hope I can get out there Tomo... :/ @henrybyalikov has been a savior... #dwts,” and then today he posted about his live musical performance at 11:30 p.m. tonight, so our fingers are crossed! If he’s feeling well enough to sing, hopefully he’ll be able to dance, too.
