There’s good news and bad news here. The good news is, Dancing With the Stars nabbed seven 2012 Emmy nominations, the same number as last year in just about the same categories. Tom Bergeron was nominated again for best host — congrats! — and the show got its usual technical nods, plus a place in the top category of Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

However, even though DWTS was nominated for choreography, the honor went to Travis Wall and the Macy’s Stars of Dance routine he choreographed to “Without You.” We love Travis, but he’s not a DWTS pro. He’s a So You Think You Can Dance alum and it’s just a shame that they didn’t recognize, say, Derek Hough’s Psycho Tango or anything else from the past year. SYTYCD always dominates this category, to our ongoing irritation, and even with DWTS represented, it’s not really represented much at all.
