It's been a big week in the Dancing With the Stars world. We had the Season 16 Semifinals, the four finalists were chosen, and, most surprisingly, the show was downsized to one day a week for next year. No more Results Show!

Wetpaint Entertainment had a chance to chat with longtime pro Louis van Amstel after the news, so of course we asked him for his opinion on the change.

"I'm very opinionated about it!" he said with a laugh. "I think it's brilliant, clever. I do think if the show had stayed at two nights, it would have been hard to keep it on the air for longer period of time. [With the change], the lifespan of Dancing With the Stars has just gone, I think, another five years. Another 10 seasons."

He added that right now, the show requires three hours of commitment spread out over two days to get the whole story. In the future, the whole "beginning, middle, and end" will all take place on Monday. "I really think it's going to do great things for the show."

For those who are wondering exactly how voting and eliminations will work now, Louis clarified that the exact details are still being figured out.

"Quite honestly, we had a talk with the executive producers. They were not expecting it to come out during the 300th episode day, but the upfronts happened in New York. ABC announced all their programming, and people put two and two together... They don't know yet, they don't have answers yet. They're very honest ... There are a lot of questions that have to be answered before they come out with a statement saying, 'this is what's happening with the voting.'"

Still, the fact that a lot of show insiders seem optimistic about the change makes us feel more confident, too.

For more from Louis, check back next week for lots of info on his new clothing line, LVA, which is being released through Sears next week, as well as he thoughts on the final four. And, as always, follow him on Twitter @LouisVanAmstel.
