Iron Man 3 is a huge success — and one of its stars is now having off-screen success as well.
Actor Ashley Hamilton, who plays former military officer Jack Taggert in the blockbuster, admits to suffering from anorexia and bulemia and says that he still has issues with food, according to People.
The 38-year-old actor — whose father is acting legend (and extremely tan) George Hamilton — struggled with drug and alcohol abuse over the years.
Last year, after having been sober for six years, he realized that he had another issue still left to deal with.
"I suffered from bulimia and anorexia," he says, saying that he's dealt with the eating disorders since his teens. "I believe it was my problem before I got into drugs and alcohol. I used the drugs and alcohol to control the food addiction."
"I don't have it perfect now," Ashley continues. "I've been free from bulimia for years, but I still struggle with food, restricting or overeating. That's been the hardest for me in sobriety."
Ashley says that his struggles are difficult for him to admit to, especially as a man.
"Nobody wants to talk about that," he says. "It's really shameful as a man to have that."
Ashley has dabbled in acting, including a part in the '90s comedy Beethoven's 2nd. His band The Wondergirls has a song on the Iron Man 3 soundtrack.
He competed on Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars but was sadly the first to go.
Ashley has previously been linked to plenty of famous faces. He was briefly married to Shannon Doherty and then to supermodel Angie Everhart.
We admire Ashley for opening up about his struggles!
