On the Dancing With the Stars Season 16’s Finals (May 20, 2013), Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff brought it with a Mardi Gras inspired Freestyle (a tribute to Jacoby's home state of New Orleans), which featured a stage overflowing with people and tapped into Jacoby's energetic personality.

Jacoby and Karina wanted this Freestyle to represent Jacoby and where he's from, which is why they focused on his roots, with an added Baltimore flare. Jacoby described the rehearsals, which involved teaching an entire group of people, as "chaotic." They knew the Freestyle was high stakes, as it always is, and since they went into it at the bottom of the Leaderboard, that was doubly true for them.

While their Freestyle had a fun concept (those kids were so cute) and a ton of cool lifts, it surprisingly lacked energy in our eyes — not what we would have expected from Jacoby. That said, the judges all complimented the sense of celebration, calling it incredibly joyful. Carrie Ann said he took the right strategy, but the dance outshined Jacoby, and he got lost in the shuffle. We're sad to say we can't really disagree.

It earned 9s across the board — 27/30. Probably not the boost Jacoby and Karina were hoping for.
