Ever since Julianne Hough departed Dancing With the Stars, we’ve been following her career, hoping to see her put on her dancing shoes again. We recently got a glimpse at her in a room full of dancers, and though it’s sadly not in the ballroom, it’s the next best thing.
While she won’t be appearing on the Season 16 finale tonight (May 21), Julianne is hard at work behind the camera in Blackpool, England, in the midst of filming upcoming STARZ docu-series Blackpool. As we previously reported, this series is set in the world of international competitive ballroom dancing, and she and brother Derek will be executive producers and head choreographers for the show! He isn’t there yet, but we saw a lot of great behind-the-scenes shots of her on Instagram.
“At my old stomping grounds... literally!” she captioned the below picture. “This is where I used to practice my Ballroom and Latin every night growing up from 10 yrs old to 15 yrs old.”
A Mirror Ball isn’t at stake in England, but this prestigious annual ballroom competition is even more cut-throat. The series will reportedly show “dancers’ obsessions with perfection” and “the darker side of the glamorous world of ballroom dance.” We expect it will be far more intense than Len throwing a temper tantrum about a dance not being traditional enough, though choreographing together, we bet the sibling duo will Hough and Hough and blow the competition away...
We’ll just have to wait and see, though. We still have a lot of questions, especially about how much will Derek be involved. There’s no word on if he will return for Season 17, but chances are slim. Either way, we have to get through tonight’s finale Results Show, in which he may or may not take home the Mirror Ball with partner Kellie Pickler!
