UPDATE: Paula Deen will not be taking the ballroom by storm on Dancing With the Stars Us Weekly reports that she turned down an offer, with the source explaining, "The dance floor is not the appropriate forum for her." Butter luck next time!

ORIGINAL STORY: Brace yourselves, Dancing With the Stars fans — Paula Deen may be making her way into the ballroom this fall.

According to VH1’s The Gossip Table, producers of the hit dancing competition are trying to get the now-controversial celebrity chef to join the cast for Season 17. “The producers would love to have Paula join the cast of next season,” an ABC insider told them. “They have a history of casting controversial people like Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin, if Paula says ‘yes,’ you can add her to that list.”

Given that she’s been dropped by almost all of her sponsors after her recent N-word controversy, this is the best news Paula has heard in weeks. However, don’t get too excited — she was reportedly asked to join Season 14 and told Extra in 2010 that she turned them down because “fat girls don’t look good sweating,” citing her “catfish arms” and “muffin top.”

Also, in a big twist, the very person who reported the news on Gossip Table, Rob Shubert (aka Naughty But Nice Rob), was told by ABC that they “don’t comment on casting” ahead of the season, especially since they haven’t even announced the premiere date yet.
