Paula Deen has been cut from numerous business deals lately — but will she soon be cutting a rug?
As Paula Deen continues to be in hot water over a lawsuit and her alleged use of racial slurs, rumors surface that she may appear on the upcoming Season 17 of Dancing with the Stars, according to Huffington Post.
Gossip writer Rob Shuter reports that ABC is interested in getting the celebrity chef to show off her fancy footwork.
"The producers would love to have Paula join the cast of next season," a source reveals. "They have a history of casting controversial people like Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin."
"If Paula says ‘yes,’ you can add her to that list," the insider continues.
We're not sure how we feel about this rumor, but it's safe to say that someone as controversial as Paula woud certainly get viewers to tune in, and the show could use the extra eyeballs after sinking ratings in recent seasons.
For ABC's part, a network rep says, "We don’t comment on casting until we officially announce."
But there are plenty of people who wouldn't appreciate the former Food Network star getting more attention in light of her recent scandal. Paula is being sued by a former employee for sexual harassment and hostile work conditions, with reports surfacing that Paula used the N-word and made comments to glorify slavery.
In 2010, Paula said that she had been asked to be on the show but had declined the offer, explaining at the time, "Fat girls don't look good sweating." Okay, then.
So would you like to see Paula compete on the show? Or are you hoping that this rumor melts away as quickly as a stick of butter?
