Time to put on your dancing shoes, TV fans! Dancing With the Star's resident blond-haired hottie Derek Hough just revealed some big news about his upcoming Emmy gig. Turns out, the 28-year-old dance pro will not only be choreographing a piece with Neil Patrick Harris, but he'll also be performing alongside the How I Met Your Mother star.
When a curious fan inquired about his role at the 2013 Primetime Emmys, airing on September 22, he responded with this juicy tidbit:
"All of us fellow nominees and all of us fellow choreographers are doing a big piece. Neil will be a part of it. He'll be in it. I'll be performing in it. We're very excited. We've been brainstorming ideas about music and ideas."
Suffice it to say, we will definitely not be falling asleep during this year's show.
What also makes the 65th annual Emmys interesting is that the choreography award will be presented for the first time ever. In years past, the award was announced during the Creative Arts Emmys, which are held a week before the primetime telecast. That means we'll see Derek, who is nominated twice, go up against Allison Holker, Sonya Tayeh, Mandy Jo Moore, Napoleon D'umo, and Travis Wall.
So how's Derek been dealing the stress of both choreographing and performing at the Emmys? By spending quality time with his fellow nominees, natch. Check out this cute picture Derek tweeted on August 19 with Ty Burrell from Modern Family. What we wouldn't give to see these two break out into a fox trot together!
