Dancing With the Stars’ Kym Johnson just announced her hiatus from the American version of the hit dance competition show last week, but she already has big plans to get back into the ballroom — as a judge!
On August 25, the pro announced that she will be a judge on Dancing With the Stars Australia, which happens to be in her home country.
She revealed the big news via Twitter, writing, “So excited to share with you my new project, I will be a judge on DWTS Australia #istillcallaustraliahome.” Aww, we’re so excited for her, even though we’ll miss seeing Kym on DWTS here in America.
When Kym originally said she was leaving DWTS, she noted that she was just taking a break in Season 17 to “accept an amazing work opportunity back in Australia,” and this definitely fits the description!
This also explains why she was “excited, nervous, and humbled” by the opportunity. This is her first time behind the judges’ table, but hey — maybe she can get some tips from Len, Carrie Ann, and Bruno before she jets off to Australia!
Plus, if you are upset about Kym leaving, you can still watch her performances. We rounded up her three best from her 14 seasons on the show, and she also is releasing a new Latin dance workout DVD with fellow pro Karina Smirnoff. This season will fly by, and we can’t wait to see her back in Season 18.Are you surprised that Kym will judge on DWTS Australia? Sound off below!
