Dancing With the Stars Season 17 is welcoming a brand new pro dancer to the ballroom, the lovely and talented Tyne Stecklein. Who is she? Here are five things to know about Bill Nye The Science Guy's DWTS partner.

1. She has two Julianne Hough connections

Former DWTS pro Julianne Hough actually won her debut season back in 2007, and maybe Tyne will be just as lucky. They both appeared in the 2010 Cher film Burlesque; Julianne played Georgia and Tyne was a dancer named Jessie. Tyne also snuggled with Tom Cruise as a Rock of Ages groupie, in the film that co-starred Julianne. There are worse fates than to be following in Julianne’s footsteps, so… this could be a good sign!

2. She has a Corbin Bleu connection

It's kind of a shame Tyne is not paired with Season 17 celeb Corbin Bleu, since they are both High School Musical alumni. Tyne, 25, is from Colorado, and started dance training at age 3. When she moved to L.A. after high school to pursue a career as a pro dancer, she was chosen to dance in the High School Musical Concert Tour. She also danced in the movies High School Musical 2, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Step Brothers; and appeared in two episodes of True Blood in 2012. She’s been in music videos for Gym Class Heroes, Christina Aguilera, and OneRepublic; and appeared in commercials for Adidas and Old Navy.

3. She was teaching dance while still in high school

She may be new to DWTS, but she has experience as a dance teacher. Her mother, Andra, was a ballet dancer who once owned a studio and then started teaching dance at Miller's Dance Studio in Aurora, Colorado. Tyne was an assistant and substitute teacher at Miller's while still in high school. According to Dance Magazine, she graduated high school a semester early in order to go on tour as an assistant teacher with L.A. Dance Magic.

4. She's married

Sorry, Bill Nye The Science Guy! (Kidding) Tyne has been married to fellow dancer Corey Anderson since August 2011. He played a bartender in Burlesque, and she met him while working briefly as a backup dancer on Latin pop star Chayanne’s world tour. On August 27, she tweeted a photo with her hot hubby, writing, "Celebrating 2 years of marriage with my love @coreyoanderson! Thanks for a perfect evening baby. Love you!" Aww! Speaking of Bill, though,  IMDb says Tyne is 5' 5¼" tall, vs. Bill, who is reportedly 6'1" tall.

5. Michael Jackson broke her heart

Tyne's big breakout role was in 2009 when she was chosen from among the 600 auditioning dancers for Michael Jackson’s This Is It. “I never in a million years thought I would book the job,” Tyne told Dance Magazine. “With hip-hop not being my strong point and also being a bit young, I was just excited to be asked to audition.” She became one of just two principal female dancers to get the job after being chosen on the spot by Michael Jackson the next day. They planned to rehearse for three months and stage a big concert in London, with more performances stretching out over the next two years.

However, eight days before the dancers were set to leave for London, they got the news that MJ had passed away. “We’d been onstage with Michael until midnight the day before,” Tyne told the magazine. “There had been no indication he was ill. It was so sad to lose him because he was such an amazing talent and so incredible to work for.” Instead of going on tour, Tyne and her fellow dancers took to the stage at the Staples Center memorial. “Losing Michael made us even closer,” she said. “That was one job where we really stayed like a family afterward.”
