Glee’s Amber Riley (Mercedes) skyrocketed to the top of the Leaderboard during September 16’s Dancing With the Stars 2013 premiere. Bruno Tonioli has already crowned her the “Tigress of Season 17,” and if the Glee star made her challenging Cha-Cha performance last night look easy, it’s probably because she thought it was!

The judges awarded Amber a score of 27 — the highest of the night — and the actress admitted that the competition isn’t all that difficult — at least not compared to the intense dancing she does on the FOX musical show.

"Glee is more grueling [than] DWTS. Trust me," Amber told Us Weekly after the show. The 27-year-old and her pro partner, Derek Hough, have been rehearsing for four hours a day, six days a week to prepare for their debut. Apparently, Glee’s dancing prep schedule is even more intense than that!

It’s no secret that the Glee stars spend enormous amounts of time in dance rehearsals. The show moves at a breakneck pace, and the stars are required to learn complicated routines in an incredibly short period of time. Each episode is filmed in about a week, and with 4 to 7 songs per episode, that’s a ton of dance routines to learn.

It’s no wonder that going from so many dances down to just one a week feels like a break for Amber! Now, if you’ll excuse us, all of this talking about grueling dance rehearsals has us feeling a bit tired out. We’re ready for a nap just thinking about it…
