Bill Nye the Science Guy escaped elimination on Dancing With the Stars 2013 last week, but it looks like he may be on the bench permanently after a serious knee injury.

While he’s remained positive about recovering from his partially-torn ligament, after heading to a wedding in upstate New York this weekend, he told fans he can’t dance. Well, or at least he “did not nor could not dance” at the wedding, which hints he’s in no shape to perform on tonight’s episode.

“A wonderful beautiful wedding in Ithaca, NY. Best wishes to bride & groom. I did not nor could not dance. My O my…” he tweeted a little after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28.

However, he was at rehab earlier that day. Around noon on September 28, the Dancing With the Stars Twitter posted a photo of him at the doctor’s office, his left knee visibly very swollen and looking very painful. “@TheScienceGuy is continuing his rehab on the road,” they captioned the pic. “Let's wish him a speedy recovery!”

We’re crossing our fingers that he recovers, but it is too dangerous for him to try to dance with such an injury tonight. That means that he and partner (and new DWTS pro) Tyne Stecklein will have to leave the competition, but at least he has two fun weeks of dances under his belt. This also likely means that no one will go home tonight, as they would take the place of an eliminated couple.

Do you think Bill and Tyne will perform tonight, or will they leave the competition? Sound off below!
