While their routine was unconventional — Bill called it a “Redneck Tango” — it was fun, playing off the idea of a couple fighting over a cheeseburger at dinner. It was tropical rather than Spanish-themed, gliding across the dance floor in fluorescent colors and showing off their great footwork.
The judges loved it, with Len Goodman kicking off the commentary. “It was a cheeseburger tango with plenty of mustard and pickle — sharp and tangy!” he exclaimed. “Overall, well done.”
Bruno Tonioli agreed, saying there was “plenty of beef on top, but cheesy on the bottom.” Though the speed of the track kept the smoothness of the tango off — which Tom Bergeron called “In-N-Out of step” — he thought it was fun.
“Strangely odd combination of humor and passion,” Carrie Ann Inaba said. “I think that was a very challenging dance and I surprisingly think you did it well.”
Overall, they scored two 8s and one 7, giving them 23 points total.
