Dancing With the Stars Season 17 has dipped its toe into the guest judging pool, and so far the results have been good. Cher was a fantastic, fun judge during Week 8, it was a delight to see Julianne Hough again earlier this season, and we couldn't be more excited to have Maks back as a guest judge for the Semifinals.

In fact, we're starting to think having guest judges on is a good idea in general. If the show continues to go down this route, there are a number of other celebs we think would be fab fits for the role. Here are just a few of the many famous faces we'd love to see take a turn at the judges' table.

Louis Van Amstel. Having former Dancing With the Stars pros as judges seems like a great idea. They know their stuff when it comes to ballroom technique, and they understand the particular challenges of this competition. Of all the pros who haven't competed on the show in a bit, Louis van Amstel is by far and away the one we'd most like to see as a judge. He's known for his compassion and kindness, so he wouldn't slam anyone, but he's also honest and straightforward. His critiques would undoubtedly be smart and valuable.

Kristi Yamaguchi. We also think it would be interesting to get a former DWTS star's point of view, and Kristi Yamaguchi immediately jumped to mind as a good choice. She won the competition, and she's a true legend in her own right; even fans who weren't watching back in Season 6 could appreciate seeing what this Olympic superstar had to say.

J.R. Martinez. Speaking of former DWTS champs, J.R. must be one of the most universally loved contestants in the show's history. He's a public speaker, so you know he'd be able to handle himself, and we'd love to see him back on the DWTS stage.

Mary Murphy. OK, so it would probably never happen because So You Think You Can Dance is a FOX show, but we think it would be interesting to see this SYTYCD judge take a stab at weighing in on the non-pros in the ballroom.

Kate Gosselin. Ha. No. We're just kidding. Never, ever let this happen, ABC.
