Did you catch Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Val Chmerkovskiy on The View on December 5?

The Dancing With the Stars pro bros looked amazing, of course, and briefly danced with two DWTS alumni — Sherri Shepherd, who competed with Val on Season 14, and guest host Jane Seymour, who danced on Season 5.

The Chmerkovskiys were as charming as you’d expect, and talked a bit about Maks’ guest judging stint on Season 17.

Maks was asked about the rumors that head judge Len Goodman might be leaving. If that happens, would he take Len’s place? "If they ask me, we'll definitely think about that,” Maks said. Val said it would be very ironic. (Maks and Len have disagreed many times over the years and during Season 13 Maks infamously suggested Len should retire.)

"When they asked me to guest judge,” Maks explained, “I got a call. I'm like, what? They're going to give me a live mic for two hours and actually ask for my opinion?" He said he made an effort to be a kind judge. He thought, if this is never going to happen again, it's his opportunity to say what he wants. It could've gone in any number of directions, but "I chose to pay marks to the pros."

Unfortunately, he couldn’t say anything at all about his brother. Val and Elizabeth Berkley had been eliminated the week before. Would it have been different if Maks had been here to judge Val? "Of course," Val said. "I was really looking for that opportunity to pull a Maks on Maks." Would Maks have kept him around on the show? "I don't know about that, but I would've definitely gone with a monologue."

Yes! Maybe they can try this again on Season 18 — with Val speaking back to Maks and arguing that it’s his show.

How would Maks have judged Val? "I would be just," Maks said. He grew up with tough coaches, so he’s used to that kind of blunt honesty, not just compliments. However, he added, "I would not be able to be too harsh, 'cause then I'd get a call from mom."

Mama Chmerkovskiy is the ultimate judge! She should be there in the audience to glare at Maks if he gets too mean. Then Tom Bergeron could interview her to see if she agreed with Maks’ scores. That would keep him in line like nothing else.

Watch Maks and Val on The View around the 15:40 mark of this full-episode video. It’s always good to see them together!
